Karmesha Smith

Karmesha Washington Smith is a dynamic leader, community advocate, and proud resident of Stonecrest, running for City Council in District 5. Her campaign is built on the pillars of honesty, integrity, transparency, and a deep commitment to uplifting every corner of the community, all while driving Progress with a Purpose. With decades of leadership experience spanning civic, corporate, and nonprofit organizations, Karmesha has consistently demonstrated what it means to lead with purpose. She has served as Vice President of the Klondike Area Civic Association, mentor youths as Co-chair of Delta GEMS through the Decatur Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., where she is a member, chairs the Principal Advisory Council at E.L. Bouie Elementary School and leads initiatives as the Program Lead for Women in Technology. In every role, Karmesha has always been a voice for the voiceless and a champion for meaningful change. Professionally, Karmesha serves as a Principal Cybersecurity Program Manager and Release, Trained Engineer, where she leads project and program execution within the Cybersecurity Portfolio Management Office. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Business Administration in Computer Information Systems from Georgia Southern University, a Master of Business Administration, and a Graduate Certificate in Leadership from Keller Graduate School of Management. She has also completed all coursework to earn a Master’s in Project Management. Karmesha was raised by her parents, who have celebrated over 50 years of marriage and instilled in her the core Christian values that continue to guide her life. As the eldest of five children, she grew up in a household led by her father, a devoted Baptist minister, and her mother, a compassionate social worker who later became an educator. Today, Karmesha is a proud mother to a talented son and the wife of a dedicated husband a Silicon Valley Tech Professional and Startup Executive whose partnership reflects the same values of faith, commitment, and purpose that shaped her upbringing.
