Fun Fact

My hobbies are gardening, rockhounding, photography, quilting (I've made seven, hand-sewn and hand-quilted), adding to my vinyl LP collection, and fly fishing with my husband. Fun Facts: From 1st through 12th grade, I never missed a single day of school.

Past Experience

I’m a concerned Jamestown resident who is running for Mayor in order to bring informed, accessible, honest leadership and disciplined fiscal management back to our town. I have spent the last several years researching, writing and advocating (at thejamestowner9.com) for transparency, accountability and oversight of our most basic taxpayer-funded services: infrastructure management and maintenance, equitable tax assessments, water and air quality, public health alerts, public records access, and decisions about how our resources are budgeted, allocated, donated, spent and invested. I'm a 7th-generation Guilford County native and graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. My business degree, journalism background and managerial skills have taken me from working alongside internet and search engine pioneers in Northern Virginia, to managing trade associations and government contracts in Washington, to running a 32-issues-a-year national magazine in Greensboro, to providing annual coverage of industry events across four continents. I'm running for mayor because I want to combine my skills and experience with the data my fellow Jamestowners and I have compiled over the past four years and take it to the next level. Jamestown's greatest asset is its intelligent, informed, energized citizens. We need to reconnect around our common concerns, reprioritize our resources, and foster a representative and responsible culture where every person who is affected by the decisions that come out of Town Hall has plenty of opportunities to engage, provide input, get answers, and help shape the decisions that impacts their lives.
