Job description
The City Attorney is responsible for appearing in judicial, administrative and other legal actions; issuing legal opinions to city officers; drafting ordinances, bonds, and other legal documents; prosecuting ordinance violations in municipal court; and providing a full range of legal services to various City departments, boards, and entities.
Eligibility requirements
Must reside in the city of elected office at the time of filing candidacy. Cannot be convicted and sentenced of, nor have plead guilty or nolo contendere to any felony charges (unless it has been pardoned, reversed, vacated, set aside, the guilty plea unaccepted by jury, or expunged under state law). Cannot be an active-service member US armed forces. Must be must be an attorney in good standing admitted to the practice of law in Indiana.
