Job description

The City Attorney is responsible for appearing in judicial, administrative and other legal actions; issuing legal opinions to city officers; drafting ordinances, bonds, and other legal documents; prosecuting ordinance violations in municipal court; and providing a full range of legal services to various City departments, boards, and entities.

Eligibility requirements

Candidate must be a U.S. citizen and a resident of the State; at least 18 years of age; a resident of the city for at least 1 year prior to election; a registered voter in the city. Candidate must not hold any other public office except as a notary or state militia member. Candidate must be an attorney-at-law admitted to practice in the state of Ohio.

If the number of votes cast was fewer than 5,000, 25 signatures, or a number equal to 5 percent of the vote (whichever is less). If the number of votes cast was 5,000 or more, signatures equal to 1 percent of the vote.
