Job description

The City Charter Commissioner is a member of the Commission that oversees the review of the city charter, makes recommendations for changes, and drafts a new charter.

Eligibility requirements

Candidate must be a U.S. citizen and a resident of the State; at least 18 years of age; a resident of the city or village; a registered voter in the city.

Filing requirements: Filing fee: $45. Petition signature requirement: For major party candidates: 50 signatures. For minor party candidates: 25 signatures. For independent candidates: signature requirements are based on the number of votes cast in the county in the last general election for governor. If the number of votes cast was fewer than 5,000, 25 signatures, or a number equal to 5 percent of the vote (whichever is less). If the number of votes cast was 5,000 or more, signatures equal to 1 percent of the vote.
