Job description
The County Sheriff’s Office is responsible for Crime Prevention, Civil Process, Court Security, the Dispatch E-911 Center, K-9, School Resource Officers, as well as community programs.

1. Qualified to vote for and hold the office sought 2. A resident of the Commonwealth for one year immediately preceding the election 3. A resident, by the time of filing, of the city or town in which he offers for election [or has an application for registration, transfer, or change of address on file in the general registrar’s office].

Filing requirements: Candidates for membership on the governing body of any county or city must collect at least 125 signatures; or if from an election district not at large containing 1,000 or fewer registered voters, 50 signatures. There is a filing fee of 2% of the minimum annual salary for the office sought in effect in the year in which the candidate files for all primary candidates only.
